Charter
The North Carolina Aerospace Alliance is a statewide collaborative effort to leverage the large military presence in North Carolina. Currently, there is a huge discrepancy between the national rankings of military presence in the state (~3rd) and the amount of defense dollars spent in the state (~26th).
The driving force of the NC-AA, therefore, is to increase military spending in NC, while at the same time, providing job growth and economic development to areas that have seen negative economic impacts due to job losses in the traditional manufacturing and tobacco sectors.
In order to conduct business with the DoD, a company must understand the protocol and processes, which at times can be confusing and cumbersome. The Alliance has the resources to help businesses understand all aspects of doing business with the DoD. This can involve:
- ISO and AS9100 qualifications
- Technical data package generation
- Reverse Engineering
- Training capabilities
- Access to nontraditional capital financing
- Financial development assistance
- Rapid realization and prototyping capabilities and assistance
- Partnership opportunities with NC Universities for technology assistance
- Other technical and business assistance
In addition, the Alliance works with the military installations within the state to identify product requirements from the DoD that can advertised to Alliance members.
An initial area of focus has been replacement parts for aging aircraft, centered on the Fleet Readiness Center (FRC)-East and their vertical lift platforms. Providing support to the OEMs who have long-term logistics contracts with the DoD represents another avenue for growth of the Alliance.
